★ What Clients Say

San Antonio & Hill Country seniors who already made the switch.

Word-of-mouth testimonials from real Medicare clients Mark has helped over the past two decades.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"Mark didn't try to sell me anything. He just sat down — well, on Zoom — and walked through what Medicare actually is. My old plan was costing me about $180 a month I didn't need to spend. Wish I'd called him sooner."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"Honest guy. Spent over an hour on a Zoom call with us, never pushed anything. Came back the next day with two plans, told us why each one would or wouldn't work for my wife's prescriptions. We picked one, saved about $90 a month."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"I was helping my mom figure out Medicare and honestly I was more confused than she was. Mark talked to both of us at the same time, didn't rush, answered every question. My mom said he reminded her of her old family doctor — that kind of patient."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"Call center people were calling me every other day around when I turned 65. Got Mark's name from my neighbor. Different story entirely. He doesn't talk over you, doesn't read off a script. Renewed with him again this year — that says enough."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"Look, I'm not the type to leave reviews. But I told three people about Mark already. My husband and I were paying way too much for a plan that didn't even cover his cardiologist. Mark fixed that in one phone call. Real local guy, not some 800-number operation."

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

"Twenty years of dealing with insurance and Mark is the first agent who actually called me back when I had questions about a denial. Got it sorted in two days. He doesn't disappear after you sign up — that's the part nobody else does."

Medicare Plans & Insurance Services

Medicare coverage for San Antonio & Hill Country seniors.

Part C

Medicare Advantage Plans

All-in-one plans bundle hospital, medical, and often prescription drug coverage. Many San Antonio options include dental, vision, and hearing benefits with $0 monthly premiums.

Medigap

Medicare Supplement Insurance

Medigap plans pair with Original Medicare to cover deductibles and copays. Best for Texans who want flexibility and to see any doctor that accepts Original coverage.

Part D

Prescription Drug Plans

Part D drug costs vary wildly between plans. I review your prescriptions against every option available in your San Antonio ZIP code to save you the most over a full year.

Add-ons

Dental, Vision & Hearing

Original coverage doesn't include routine dental, vision, or hearing. I help San Antonio seniors find affordable standalone plans or bundle them into an Advantage plan.

Protection

Life Insurance

Term life, whole life, and final expense options to protect your Texas family without overpaying for coverage you don't actually need.

Income

Annuities

Guaranteed income annuities turn retirement savings into reliable monthly payments you can't outlive — a common need for retirees in San Antonio and the Hill Country.

Mark Steinberg, San Antonio Medicare advisor with 20+ years of experience
About Mark Steinberg

San Antonio's independent Medicare advisor — 20+ years.

I've been a licensed insurance agent for more than twenty years. In that time, I've watched a lot of San Antonio seniors sign up for the wrong Medicare plan — not because they were careless, but because nobody actually walked them through it. Medicare has too many moving parts to figure out alone, and most agents are too busy chasing the next sale to stick around after enrollment.

That's why I do this differently. As an independent Medicare agent, I'm not tied to any one insurance company. I work for you. That means I compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D plans across all the major carriers and give you honest advice about what fits your situation — even when the answer is "stay with the plan you already have."

I'm based in San Antonio, Texas and licensed across 16 states. Most of my clients are right here in the Texas Hill Country — San Antonio, Stone Oak, the Stone Oak Parkway corridor, Boerne, Bulverde, Spring Branch, Fair Oaks Ranch, New Braunfels, and Fredericksburg. Everything I do is by phone or video, so you never have to leave your house, fight traffic on 281 or 1604, or sit at a kitchen table with a salesperson.

Medicare FAQs

Common Medicare questions from San Antonio seniors.

Your Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before the month you turn 65 and ends three months after — a seven-month window total. If you miss it and don't have other qualifying coverage, you may pay late penalties for the rest of your life. If you're approaching 65, even by a few months, let's talk now so you don't miss it.
Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one plan from a private insurer. Many have $0 premiums, network restrictions, and built-in extras like dental and vision. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare and pays the share Medicare doesn't cover — higher monthly premium, but you can see any doctor that takes Medicare with very predictable out-of-pocket costs. Which is better depends entirely on your health, doctors, and budget. That's the conversation we'll have.
No. My services are free to you. I'm paid by the insurance carrier when you enroll in a plan, and the commission is the same whether you go through me or directly through the carrier. You don't pay extra for using an agent — you just get someone in your corner.
If you have group health coverage through an employer with 20 or more employees, you can usually delay Part B without penalty. But you generally want to enroll in Part A since it's free for most people. The rules differ for smaller employers, and there are real traps with HSAs. Call me before making any moves — this is where people make expensive mistakes.
Yes, but only during specific windows. The Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) is when most people review and switch. There's also the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31) for people already on a Medicare Advantage plan. Special Enrollment Periods exist for life events like moving or losing other coverage. I review every client's plan each year automatically — no surprises.
Most of my clients are right here in Texas, but I'm licensed in 16 states. We do everything by phone or video — no in-person meetings, ever. If you're in a state I'm not licensed in, I'll help you find a trusted colleague or point you to a reliable resource. I won't waste your time.
Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, plus some younger folks with qualifying disabilities. If you live in San Antonio, the Stone Oak Parkway area, Bulverde, Spring Branch, or anywhere else in the Texas Hill Country and you're approaching 65, you'll need to make Medicare decisions whether you want to or not — missing your enrollment window can mean lifetime late penalties. The good news: there are great plans available locally, and I help you sort through them at no cost.
Three things matter most: your doctors, your medications, and your monthly budget. Different Medicare Advantage plans have different networks — if your cardiologist at Methodist Stone Oak or your primary care doctor in Bulverde isn't in-network, the plan isn't right for you. Same goes for prescriptions: drug formularies change every year, and the wrong plan can cost you thousands. I run your specific doctors and medications against every plan available in your ZIP code and bring you the two or three that actually fit. That's the whole job.
No — we're a separate, independent agency. There are several insurance professionals serving the Stone Oak Parkway area of San Antonio. The difference with Texas Hill Country Medicare: we focus exclusively on Medicare, not general health insurance, group plans, or ACA marketplace coverage. If you're 65+ or approaching 65, that specialization matters. If you need ACA or small business coverage, I'm happy to refer you to someone who handles that.
